ORFG & Arizona State Leaders Make the Case for Open in Scientific American Op-Ed
Open Research Funders Group Director Greg Tananbaum and Arizona State University President Michael Crow today published an editorial in Scientific American entitled, “We Must Tear Down the Barriers That Impede Scientific Progress”. The piece makes the case that open science is critical for both aligning the incentive structures of research production and consumption with our values, and for catalyzing the scientific progress our society so desperately needs. The authors argue that open is better for science, better for the economy, and better for society. The article also contains practical, evidence-based guidance for universities, foundations, learned societies, and other key stakeholders to begin the practical work of identifying and propagating open science norms within their communities.
