NASEM Roundtable Presents Draft Open Science Toolkit

In conjunction with the November 2020 convening of the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine’s (NASEM) Roundtable on Aligning Incentives for Open Science, Roundtable working groups presented a draft “open science toolkit”. This modular set of resources – including best practices, success stories, sample language, and rubrics – lays out the “why’s” and “how’s” of open science policies. It is intended to be adapted and adopted by a range of stakeholders, including university leadership, academic department chairs, research funders, learned societies, and government agencies. A version of the toolkit will be released under the NASEM imprimatur in 2021, but the draft version is available for inspection and application now. It may be downloaded here. The Open Research Funders Group, which facilitates the Roundtable, is available to answer any questions about the toolkit, as well as to help organization interested in applying it. Please contact us to discuss further.
